made from a rough dark clay with quartz and
iron ore inclusions.
the glaze contains a large amount of metallic oxides
like iron, cobalt, chrome and nickel.
on top of the glaze, a gold luster (overglaze) is applied.
the piece is fired a total of three times.
the gold luster contains actual gold.
the semi-matt, textured surface of the metallic glaze
counteracts and balances the gloss of the gold
