ame chawan
Ø 12cma small teabowl with a classic tenmoku-chawan shape.
the glaze, however, is a caramel-coloured creation that
contains only three ingredients: ferreous sand, ash and iron ore.
it´s very runny, pools in the center and forms drops
on the outside,
which is why I fired this chawan on fireclay wads
topped with shells.
the shells combust and leave characteristic marks on the base.
the lime they contain combines with the feldspar in the clay
and makes a natural glaze in some places
